Communicate and collaborate amidst covid-19

 Introduction:

Covid 19 has heavily impacted on education especially in doing collaborative projects. Here are few strategies to enhance the collaborative learning are team work and communication in virtual scenario.

Strategies to implement team work :

In the beginning of the academic year (especially during the pandemic) the teacher should have a clear idea about what collaborative work that students have to do in online environment. This increases productivity of students and effective time management. This also avoids the isolation of students.

Video projects:

Encouraging students to do video projects recreating a moment in history and doing a stop motion video and so on. This will increase students creativity in presenting their video.

Objectives:

Establishing practical objectives which result in reasonable activities and have scope to measure the learners achievement.

Tools for collaborative learning:

There are online tools which enhance the collaborative learning of students. This also helps teachers in sharing their content after adequate research

Netiquette:

Students should be in the groups which have been respectful. The netiquette guidelines will guide you in the same way.

Peer assessment:

If any peer assessment is given the students are divided into peers they can talk with their peers in audio video communication. There should be clear guide lines where collaboration occurs.

Time allotment:

One complaint from the learners is that time allotted for completing collaborative activity is less. So teachers can create an agenda for each activity planned

Playing games:

Teachers can play a game to get students warmed up. This may particularly help in the case of small students. Cooperative games increase the students collaborative work.

Conclusion:

Taking time to discuss will give us long term benefits. Listing strategies will be overwhelming. There are tools in online which fit for each age group. Technology has given a wide scope to survive in pandemic also.
